Our Warmest Invitation to Sir Ian McKellen

We know you are exceptionally busy but if you could find a few moments to even consider this, then we would be extremely grateful! A huge thank you to Kenneth Cranham whom is one of our executive teams close friends for passing this on to you.
We work for Matrix Academy Trust based around Birmingham and the West Midlands. As a Trust we educate over 8000 pupils across the West Midlands and surrounding areas and have around 900 members of staff across our 8 schools. The event is heavily based on giving children a good education regardless of their circumstances. We have improved the life chances of thousands of young people, many of which live in some of the most disadvantaged parts of the country. We are also huge supporters of LGBTQ+ inclusive practice – although there’s always more we can do of course!
We are writing to extend our warmest invitation to you to attend and speak at our upcoming annual Trust Conference, to be held on Friday 24th October 2025 at The ICC in Birmingham. Your remarkable career and unwavering commitment to advocacy, social justice, and charitable work have made a profound impact in many communities. We believe that your voice and perspective would greatly resonate with our delegates of our upcoming conference on this theme.
We would gladly support Stonewall or another charity of your choice and of course pay your expenses.
We would be honoured if you could join us as a special guest, sharing your experiences and reflections on the role of community and charity in creating a more inclusive and compassionate society. The talk would be approximately 30 minutes.
The conference brings together teaching and support staff from schools across our region and serves as a meaningful platform for inspiration, collaboration, and growth within education. This year’s theme, Community and Charity, aims to celebrate and reflect on the values that unite and uplift our school communities, with a special focus on empathy, giving, and the power of collective action.
