Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined in statutory guidance (Keeping Children Safe in Education – KCSIE) as everyone’s responsibility, and for leaders, it is a non-negotiable moral and legal imperative. It is more than just Child Protection (which focuses on children suffering or likely to suffer significant harm); it is about creating a comprehensive, preventative culture where every student is secure, supported, and free from harm.

This session will equip you to champion a child-centred approach, ensuring your policies, staff training, and referral systems are robust, proactive, and fully compliant with current UK statutory duties. We will examine how to effectively manage risk, tackle complex issues like Child-on-Child Abuse and Contextual Safeguarding, and ensure your school acts as an expert and decisive partner within the wider multi-agency system.

This session is suitable for all those involved in safeguarding in a school setting.
