“Anything is possible if you work hard enough” Miss Hart represents Team England in Spain

Our staff sponsorship scheme supports members of our team with their passions outside school. One recipient is Miss Hart, dance teacher at Dame Elizabeth Cadbury School. She recently participated in the Global Dance Open Competition in San Sebastián, Spain, representing Team England.

She said

“This year I was lucky enough to be selected to compete as a soloist for the first time, which was a dream come true and something I would never imagined I would ever do. This was in Tap, which was a full circle moment for me as 20 years ago this year, I had my first ever tap solo… I am pleased to say that I came second place, coming home with a Silver Medal, a score higher than the one I achieved at the England Qualifier and title of ‘Runner-Up Champion’, it really was an incredible moment!

“As well as this, myself and my dance partner achieved 7th in the Globe for Jazz Duets and 8th in the Globe for Lyrical Duets, against some of the most incredible dancers I have ever seen. We are really pleased to come away with these placing, however, this year was about more about enjoying the experience, than placings, as it was our final time on stage together before I retire from competitive dance to concentrate on teaching and he goes into the dance Industry as a professional dancers.

“I want to thank Matrix Academy Trust for the incredible support I have received over the last 3 years, including being allowed time out of school to do these competitions and the staff sponsorship received last year. It has been something I never believed I would get the opportunity to do, and I hope I can be a role model for our students that anything is possible if you work hard enough.”
