Etone College – Secondary School of the Year
Etone College Named Secondary School of the Year at the Education Awards 2026
Our Trust is delighted to celebrate a landmark achievement as Etone College was named Secondary School of the Year at the Education Awards 2026, recognising the exceptional work taking place across the school and the dedication of its entire community.
The Education Awards celebrate schools from across the country that demonstrate excellence in inspiring young people, enriching pupils’ experiences, engaging with their communities and driving meaningful change. Marking the awards’ 10th anniversary, this year’s ceremony provided a fitting celebration of a decade of educational excellence.
Held at Millennium Point Auditorium, the event brought together educators and school leaders from across the country in an atmosphere of anticipation and celebration. As finalists were announced, the Etone College delegation, led by Mr Smith, received a tremendous show of support from those in attendance ahead of the evening’s headline award for secondary education.
In a unique twist, winners were revealed through pre-recorded videos that had only been viewed by their creators. As the announcement unfolded, it became clear that Etone College had secured the prestigious title of Secondary School of the Year, prompting celebrations from the delegation as they took to the stage to accept the award.
The accolade represents an extraordinary journey for the school. A decade ago, when these awards were first launched, Etone College was in Special Measures. Since then, the school has undergone a remarkable transformation, earning national recognition for its outstanding Progress 8 outcomes, commitment to community engagement and the breadth of cultural and enrichment opportunities it provides for its pupils.
The award announcement also featured messages of support from Jodie Gosling MP and the then Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth, Bhim Saru, highlighting the school’s positive impact within the local community.
Reflecting on the achievement, Headteacher Mr Smith said:
“We have been successful with awards for the school over the past few years and each one has been special. However, this is the big one – the award that truly recognises everything we have worked towards. Being named Secondary School of the Year is the pinnacle of what we can achieve. I am incredibly grateful to our staff, pupils, governors, families and the wider Etone community for their unwavering support. It is a wonderful way to end the academic year.”
This national recognition is a testament to the dedication, ambition and collaboration shown by everyone connected with Etone College. It reflects not only the achievements of the school but also our Trust’s commitment to delivering exceptional education, creating opportunities for every young person to thrive, and supporting schools on ambitious journeys of sustained improvement.
The Secondary School of the Year trophy now takes pride of place in the school’s foyer alongside the many awards and accolades earned throughout Etone College’s proud history. Congratulations to everyone who has played a part in this remarkable achievement.
