Sponsorship Initiative Supports Life-Saving Search & Rescue Drone Technology
The Trust is pleased to highlight the impact of its Staff Sponsorship Initiative, which recently supported Miss Clarke from Barr Beacon School, a member of Staffordshire Search and Rescue (SSART), through funding that has contributed directly to the purchase of a new drone to assist in search and rescue operations.
SSART is a volunteer-led charity tasked by the police to support searches for missing people across Staffordshire and surrounding areas. These operations can involve highly complex and sensitive situations, including locating individuals in mental health crisis who may not wish to be found, or vulnerable people such as those living with dementia who may have become disoriented or lost. In every case, the priority remains the same: achieving the fastest possible resolution to reunite individuals with their families and loved ones.
Speaking about the value of the new technology, Miss Clarke shared:
“As a member of Staffordshire Search and Rescue (SSART), I see first-hand the impact that drone technology can have in the search for a missing person. Drones allow us to search efficiently in order to find people and reunite them with their families.”
The introduction of drone technology has significantly enhanced SSART’s operational capability, allowing teams to cover large and often difficult terrain more quickly and safely. This improved efficiency can make a critical difference in time-sensitive search operations.
SSART expressed their sincere gratitude for the sponsorship funding that helped make this equipment possible. The Trust is proud to have played a part in supporting this work, which has a direct and meaningful impact on saving lives and supporting vulnerable individuals and their families.
